| Thank you for giving me my life back!! |

Hello, my name is Kevin and I am 51 years old. In Nov. 07 I had a debilitating injury that required constructive back surgery. This was completed June/08. Right after my surgery, I found myself in Recovery where I spent the next 6 hours. I was in trouble. I had stopped breathing and all these alarms were going off. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see the nurse running toward me. I had several of these sessions. Later, they moved me to the Intensive care and then to a step down unit. Later that night, the nurse asked me, "do you have sleep apnea?". The nurse explained to me what the symptoms were; such as frequent snoring, pauses in breathing during sleep, and gasping or choking for air during sleep. Restless sleep and irritability, grogginess, dullness, morning headaches, and frequent trips to the washroom. For the last 15 years, I have suffered with all of these symptoms and didn't know what was really wrong with me. I met with my doctor and explained to him what had happened to me following my surgery. He gave me a referral to Atlantic Sleep Apnea Services in July 08. I had my sleep test, the results said that I had stopped breathing 18.6 times per hour. The wonderful people at Atlantic Sleep Apnea explained the benefits of using the CPAP machine. I have been using the CPAP machine for six weeks and I have never felt so good. I can sleep all through the night and wake up feeling like my old self. Thank you for giving me my life back!! |
